storytelling
i think that the stories that Krakauer tells in his book gives insight into how he feels about what chris did. when he tells stories of other people failing and killing themselves, he is supporting the opinion that thinks Christopher was an idiot. In his book, Krakauer writes about the story about a man named Gene Rosellini. Rosellini says in a letter, "I began my adult life with the hypothesis that it would be possible to become a stone age native. for over 30 years. i programmed and conditioned myself to this end. in the last 10 of it, i would say i realistically experienced the physical, mental, and emotional reality of the stone age. but to borrow a buddhist phrase, eventually came a setting face-to-face with pure reality. i learned that it is not possible for human beings as we know them to live off the land" (75). I think that putting this into the book gives evidence that he doesn't agree with chris's actions. Rosellini ended up killing himself because he came to the conclusion that he couldn't fulfill his hypothesis. why would Krakauer put this into his book if he agreed with chris's actions?

unfortunately my opinion about did take a hit. i really liked her before and think she has a great voice, but some of the things she writes about are a little childish. the chart is what had the biggest on me. i could see how the things she things about are childish and unrealistic. Also being introduced to the fact that some of her songs are similar to people who have written in the past. i don't know if she belongs in the category that she is in. To be in the same breath as john leon, you better have a handful of amazing songs. taylor swift is catching a lot of peoples eyes though. she has been very lucky with getting fans and being promoted to the world. i think that she is a good artist and only going to get better.

After reading deeper into the novel; my feelings about McCandless actions of going into the wild haven't changed. Reading deeper into the novel makes my view more set in stone. the author gives more insight into what kind of person chris is. The author writes what he thinks will give the best insight into chris's thoughts and feelings. When he talks to wayne, he rags on society and his parents. the author wants to show how much he doesn't like the structure of family and society. The author also puts quotes from books that christopher was reading, with the intentions of showing what was fueling his thoughts and ideas on the world. I thought that chris's actions were not stupid, it was very bold. He went into the wild for new experiences and to get away from society.
