unfortunately my opinion about did take a hit. i really liked her before and think she has a great voice, but some of the things she writes about are a little childish. the chart is what had the biggest on me. i could see how the things she things about are childish and unrealistic. Also being introduced to the fact that some of her songs are similar to people who have written in the past. i don't know if she belongs in the category that she is in. To be in the same breath as john leon, you better have a handful of amazing songs. taylor swift is catching a lot of peoples eyes though. she has been very lucky with getting fans and being promoted to the world. i think that she is a good artist and only going to get better.

I think the chart with all the things she wrote about had the more powerful impact on everyone. I still think she deserves to win a grammy though because right now, she is one of the best artists. It may not be the most powerful and inspiring music you will hear, but its what the world is desiring to hear right now.
ReplyDeleteI don't think she belongs in the country category because it is too up beat and more along the lines of pop. There are country singers who deserve more awards than Taylor Swift, like Carrie Underwood. I agree that Taylor is lucky to have the fans she has today. I feel like she is inexperience because she is so young and is stuck in high school.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the chart really did make on impact on me, and I am trying to ignore it rather than subconsciously count the cars and the tears. However, as far as the author incorporating lyrics of similar songs to prove their point, I felt that this was a weak argument. There are only so many ways a person can manipulate words and style. This is why in literature, movies, fashion and even songwriting, themes become repetitive. Just like how 80's fashion became popular again in the 2000's, lyrics and ideas also become recycled.
