portfolio
i think that my strongest that i will be putting in my portfolio is the essay about McCandless. i feel it is a really good paper because i make a very strong argument for chris chasing after his dream. I emphasize that McCandless has a desire to live free. i use examples of imagery and peaceful places to show to my reader that the place that he was at was a se-real experience. the next step i need to take for this paper is to go deeper. i leave my main points unclear. For example, i mention how there are many of people how are obese in our country and are very lazy. i need to go deeper into why is is such a bad thing and why chris is a better person for getting out and being adventurous. My paper has a lot of potential, i just need to go deeper and organize it better. it does not flow very well. cleaning it up shouldn't be to hard, as long as i sick to my core ideas. the paper that i think need the most work is my research paper. my research is only 3 pages long and it doesnt have a lot of research in it so far. i think that i have a good start, but some things that need to be improved are: organization, research, and a naysayer. the naysayer will come with a lot more research and time put in. on a positive note, i feel like i have a really good start. my paper has a lot of potential if i just put the research in.

research paper
think that Krakauer was successful in his research. the Best moment he had was at the end of his book when he was defending chris. He was trying to show how chris wasn't just so idiotic kid who was running around the alaskan wild. Krakauer research deep into the different types of things chris was eating and how they might have affected him. Krakauer says, " He had began to gather and eat large quantities of wild potato seeds in july 14, during an extended period of rainy weather" (194). Chris thought that these were ok to eat. he made an honest mistake. who doesn't? People make mistakes everyday, things happen. Krakauer's research proves that Chris wasn't such a stupid kid. he was very smart but just made an honest mistake

sources
The primary source for my paper is the movie, To Kill a Mocking Bird by Haper Lee. The movie shows how the culture was beginning to change back in the 1960's. Black men were always stereotyped for trying to get with the white mens wives. Atticus Finch is the lawyer who defends The black man who's name is Tom Robinson. The movie is really showing the change in culture from the fact that a white man is defending a black man. this was unheard of in the 1960's. Black men and women were looked upon to do work. they were pretty much treated like animals, and the fact that a white man stood up for a black man and proved him to be innocent really had an affect on culture. Atticus doesn't not prove him innocent in the court house, but the husband of the wife that was said to be raped by tom was after Atticus and his kids in the late hours of the night, obviously wanting to stop him from proving the tom was innocent. this research is very important. This movie came out when blacks were stilled hated for their skin color. it came out the year before Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated. Hatred was still very present at that time. But things began to change because of the movie because they realized that the way that they looked at black people was wrong. Tom Robinson only helped out the women that he eligibly raped and asked for no pay. this movie affects the reader because all of the people at that time who thought of black men as bad realized after that their stereotyping is wrong. they realized tom was a good man and didn't deserve to die.
